Film & Video

Welcome!  I’m John Ayala, an Editor and Post-Production Producer.

I’ve edited award-winning content for major organizations like National Geographic, AARP, and SKDK – including advertising campaigns, explainers, long-form videos and promos for NASA, Gillette, the Gates Foundation, Audible, and the Carnegie Institute.

I’m always looking for new collaborations – so let’s talk!

As a documentary producer and editor, my work has been broadcast on PBS, and selected and screened at the Sundance Film Festival, Telluride, IFC Center, Havana Film Festival, New York International Latino Film Festival, CineSol Film Festival, Bicycle Film Festival, and Rooftop Films.

Services offered

Post-Production:  Video editing, motion graphics and effects, sound design/mix, color correction, trim downs and formatting for social media outlets, footage/photo research and licensing, recording and directing voice over talent, communicating with project managers or clients, and providing final deliverables for broadcast, streaming platforms, social media and live screenings.

Production: I work with award winning cinematographers and production teams to produce commercials and videos with an indie film and documentary approach .  Quotes available upon request.

Ayala Grocery was my grandfather’s store and has served as a constant beacon, inspiring a series of videos and now growing into this website and my company.  I guess it’s my way of taking ownership of the family legacy and of showcasing a good portion of my work, which has the eclecticism of a grocery store at times-but not the randomness.  I’m very proud of the projects featured and I feel extremely lucky to have worked with the creative teams and individuals involved.
